Fars Province, Iran

Shiraz Diamonds

$1,850

Woven by the Qashqai people of the Fars highlands, this rug was made on a portable loom during seasonal migration. The concentric diamond medallions are drawn from memory rather than a cartoon, so the geometry breathes and no two lozenges are identical. Colours come from madder root and indigo, hand-spun wool holding the dye deep and even.
